The Dylan Time Machine: Johnny Cash Show
Here's Dylan making his "comeback" in 1969 essentially on Johnny Cash's show. After the motorcycle accident, and hiding in upstate New York for a while, Dylan had to learn how to act on stage again. You can tell here he looks a little odd. I just liked this song, because the eeriness of the lyrics. "Once I had mountains in the palm of my hand, And rivers that ran through ev'ry day. I must have been mad, I never knew what I had. Until I threw it all away." It takes a lot to write a song like that. So beautiful, yet sad. Very good performance nonetheless as always. And to not only reinvent your image, but your voice as well...that's difficult to do. I think he nailed it.
