Alright. Here we go. The annual "Winter Meetings" for GM's starts tomorrow. One week of love, hate, money, and money. Above you is Scott Boras. Also known as Scott "Borass". Besides making 10% or so on A-Rod, Zito, Holliday, and Dice-K, he has a handful of the top free agents this offseason. Here's
the list of his clients. You may of heard of some. Free Agents he represents this year include Manny Ramirez, Mark Teixeira, Derek Lowe, and Pudge Rodriguez. He is most famous for the A-Rod deal with the Texas Rangers. $252 million over 10 years. So he will be cashing in a lot of dough this offseason as well. Right here, on CC, we are going to guess where the top free agents will land. Post your guesses in the comments, and we will see how wrong we are. Remember the ones that Boras represents, big market teams will be most likely to land them. Here are my choices.
1.

CC Sabathia: CC's amazing time in the National League (11-2, 1.65 ERA, 7 CG, 3 SHO) has made him ever more powerful in this offseason class. Even though he is a nice guy, I see him going to the dark side, accepting the overly offered green, and wearing Pinstripes in 2009.
2.

Manny Ramirez: Oh, Manny. He killed the ball in the NL (.396, 17 HR, 53 RBI's) Oh yeah, and those numbers are in 53 games. That's just a little over a quarter of a full season. Great Hitter. Awful Fielder. Nutcase. But with his impact on the Dodgers, I think they are going to keep him for a while.
3.

Mark Teixeira: One of, if not THE best switch hitter in baseball right now. He's had at least 30 HR's each the past 5 years. Also 5 straight seasons with at least 100 RBI's. Not to mention his .290 career average. Tex has been on a lot of teams' wishlist this offseason, no surprise. I think Boston will get what they want, obtain this switchy, and turn YOOK and his facial hair loose at 3rd.
4.

Francisco Rodriguez: Who is the one they call K-Rod? Well at age 26, he has 6 full seasons under his belt. A career 2.35 ERA. 208 career saves. Oh yeah, and he broke the season saves record last season with 62. K-Rod is the best closer on the market, and I think that the Mets will go hard, and get their man Frankie complete with shades.
5.

A.J. Burnett: This frequently injured pitcher put the critics to rest in 2008. He led the AL in starts in 2008. Oh, he also led in total strikeouts. He has a career ERA of under 4. I think he'll join Hudson in Atlanta, and end up on the DL for the majority of the season. Carl Pavano/ Mike Hampton anyone? Not that extreme, but he will not be a good pick up for the amount of bills he'll be owed.
More to come.

must be nice to be able to sign a 3 yr deal for what? 37 mill or something like that. Unreal..maybe your next blog should be about the unrealistic salarys these guys get for PLAYING A GAME....not that I take their skills and hard work away from them because they've earned the LEVEL they're playing at but the money!? after breakin it down over 30 grand a DAY to throw a white ball into someones glove...I love baseball as much as anyone else in this country but come on. I should probably wait to run my mouth until the Yanks make their offer to CC..rumors had what? 160 mill for 7 yrs...which is what? getting paid 62 g's A DAY to also throw a white leather ball into a glove...yet I gotta work 30 hours a Dicks F'n Sporting Goods just to have a gym memborship and gas up my car....assholes
