Damn, Matt's Pick'em Week 2

What a start.. Looks like I need to re-evaluate my expertise in the field of sports pick'em.. wait a minute.. I'm Matthew Torrence.. Even I can have slow starts.. this is just another one. Now that I have weathered that first storm I am ready to tackle Week 2.. It's almost a virtual certainty that I do better this time anyway.. by the way Chase I'm 2-6. Thanks for making me look better though. I managed to pick the favorite in every upset last week.. I amaze myself.

MONDAY: No. 16 defending NCAA champs Kansas take their Rock Chalk Jayhawk chant into Missouri to face the No. 19 Tigers. In other words it's the Big 12's prominent team of success versus the up and coming new kids on the block in Mizzu.. I go with tradition and I go with numbers.. Kansas takes one on the road 88-76 

TUESDAY: As steamed up as I am that Marquette couldn't get the easy win of USF last week (they must have read that I picked them and assumed it was a lock) I can't imagine how pissed their staff is.. They go on the road to Villinova in a hostile environment and a big time crowd as the No. 12 Golden Eagles take on the No. 13 Wildcats.. This one is truly tough.. and I am truly bad at predicting this Big East conference.. My gut wants to go with Nova in this one though.. please don't let me regret this.. Cats win it at home 67-60

WEDNESDAY: The rivalry in college basketball has been UNC and Duke for some time now.. and this year will be no different.. I like both teams much like everyone else, and either team has the potential to really do something special.. I want to go with the higher ranked and home team Duke in a game that will be sure to have the Cameron Crazies up and roaring.. But despite my better judgment I like the Tar Heels in this one.. Big time talent down low and a sense of confidence that's starting to pick up down tobacco road the No. 5 Tar Heels topple No. 3 Duke in a barn burner. 

THURSDAY: No. 6 UCLA vs. No. 18 Arizona State is a Pac-10 thriller that has a lot of conference championship implications now that we are in the latter part of the year.. I still don't trust the Bruins and have always thought things get hotter in the desert.. Go with the Sun Devils in this one.. let's say 92-85.. Don't expect to see good fundamental defense tonight.

FRIDAY: I smell some home cooking in Indianapolis when the pesky Illinois-Chicago Flames come into the dog pound to take on the No. 15 Butler Bulldogs.. Now I love this Butler team and I think they can go all the way to the Sweet Sizteen this year, but I have seen them get upset by this team before.. However I can't go against the dogs at home.. Butler wins one that will be closer then what it should be 75-70

SATURDAY: A tough ACC match-up as the No. 25 ranked Florida State Seminoles go into the Demon Deacons house to take on No. 8 Wake Forest.. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot here but I like FSU's quick style of play and young talent, I'm going with the upset in this one as Florida State shocks the home crowd 89-77
