Jimi Hendrix: Hear My Train A Comin'

No words.

New Music: Arizona-Colors

Yay! New stuff! I have been hooked on this song lately. I'm not sure what it is, wait yes I do. Arizona sounds like Annuals combined with Stars. Add that with the recoil of sound, resembling an ending at around 1:12, and there you have the amazingness of which is Colors by Arizona. I have been trying to get their album Glowing Bird for the longest time. Good band. Good song. Good day chaps.

Arrested Development: Hidden Camera

Okay, I love this show. Best show ever made. Can't wait for the movie, again. In this clip, Tobias Fünke mentions him being the world's first Analysis/Therapist. Watch for the business cards. Wilco: Live

Okay. Wilco. Well, being pretty much my favorite band. I had extremely high expectations. After having listened to an amazing live album of theirs the past couple years. I was so excited to actually see them in person. The thing was, they exceeded my expectations. They were nuts. The house was packed. Tweedy was funny. Glenn stood on his drums. They had dueling guitar solos. Sing along songs. They came out for two encores. Put Bloomington into a song. They were amazing. A lot of bands are terrible live. A lot of singers are terrible live. Tweedy and Wilco, they're better. I was in straight shock the entire concert. I saw my History of Rock and Roll professor there. Before the concert in class he said, "Tweedy called me today, asked if he could speak in the class. But we just don't have enough time...of course I'm joking. If he called me, I'd have a nervous breakdown. I love Wilco." That's just a perfect example of Wilco's range of fans. I saw an 8 year old and people pushing 60 all enjoying them. I don't know what else to say, but if you do get a chance to see them. Do. I paid 25 bucks, but I would've easily paid double that. They were that good. I didn't get many pictures because the lighting was not being friendly with me. So I will leave you with a live video, sadly not taken from last night's concert. I posted this video before, but you can get some sort of idea if you hadn't watched it before. Check these guys out. They have a new album due in late June. And I'm going to have to buy their DVD Ashes of American Flags coming in late April. So soon. Enjoy this clip.

Glenn Beck: Anti-Tax Tea Party and the Media

Here is the link to the video. How the media sees tea parties. Glenn Beck is the man. This video says it all. I don't even want to cheapen it by writing anything. If you aren't hooked on Glenn just yet, this video will make sure of that. Good Day.

Anti-Tax Tea Party: Face of a Revolution? Texas Gov. Declares State Sovereignty

Link.

Readers Warning: Chase is feeling his hippy come out.

Today, if you haven't heard, is the Anti-tax tea party across the nation. Not only do I believe this will be a huge turnout, but I believe that Washington will not be able to ignore for much longer. Even if CNN or MSNBC don't choose to cover this groundbreaking event, I still think people will know about it. People will start to think. With the taxes rising, why not protest. Now, we may just be a bunch of hippies complaining, but when you look at how much debt our society has accumulated. How taxes have risen, and will continue to rise in order to give D.C. new cars, and green golf carts. Why not protest. As my father said, "It's great that the media has 24-hour coverage of 10 people protesting the war, but will not cover thousands upon thousands who are protesting taxes." Excuse me for paraphrasing, but it is something remarkable. The media has dubbed anyone who doesn't agree with Obama and his socialist agenda as "Right Wing Radicals" If this is a response to the Tea Party today, I'm not sure, but you know D.C. has heard about it. It's all over the internet. It isn't just about Obama, it's about all of Washington D.C. I'm not saying this is going to be a revolution, but look at some similarities I've come up with.

1. Americans were upset about taxes imposed by Great Britain that included printed goods and tea. Tobacco/Gas anyone?
2. The U.S. was tired of Great Britain telling local leaders how to govern America when they had no idea of the area. D.C. to Texas anyone?
3. Many Americans thought that the King and Parliament had become too powerful, and corrupt. Hmmmmm.

Now, I'm not saying that I want to "secede from the Union". All I am saying, is that I really do want to see change. Change that is good. Change that doesn't cost me more than it is helping me. Here is the plan. In short, my man Paul Ryan from Wisconsin on Hannity:

RYAN: Well, look, what we're proposing is we're going to give taxpayers a choice. You can have the current tax code with all of its loopholes, bells and whistles, or if you want a simplified system that fits on a postcard, two rates, 10 percent and 25 percent, it's progressive, generous and personal standard exemptions, but no other loopholes and exemptions you can have this simplified system. It fits on a postcard. We're giving the taxpayer the choice. Which system do they want? The one with all the loopholes and deductions or the simplified system with the lower tax rates?

HANNITY: The only way that this is politically viable is if Republicans get control of Congress. Look, I like this. The current system is too complicated, there's too many loopholes. You're keeping it really, really simple, 10 percent on joint filers with incomes of $100,000 25 percent on income beyond that. Alternative minimum tax eliminated. Eliminate taxation on capital gains and dividends. I think that would jump-start and put a jolt in the economy, economic growth, but the only way this is really going to happen is if you guys win in 2010, so there's a political component, and so you've got to educate people in the process.

I hope that my first amendment rights ensure that I don't go to jail for thinking freely. For what it's worth. Enjoy your tea today. Here's the video of the Texas Gov. Rick Perry. Good day. Celebrate your right to free speech.

Sincerely,
Hippy Chase

Wilco: Side With the Seeds

As I was getting my mindset ready for Wilco's appearance at IU on Thursday, I came across this fantastic video from the band's DVD Ashes of American Flags. The DVD has yet to be released, it is planned to come out on April 18th. The video is Wilco oh so amazingly performing "Side With the Seeds" taken from their most recent album Sky Blue Sky. Now, I won't be the first to say I did not like this album the first time I heard it. A lot of people did not like it, because, well it was different from what we had gotten used to from Wilco. From Summerteeth in '99, to the best album of 2002 from Village Voice's Annual Critics Poll along with a perfect 10 from Pitchfork Media Yankee Hotel Foxtrot in '02, to the 2 Grammy Award Winning A Ghost Is Born in '05, to even their Kicking Television: Live In Chicago album also in '05. I just could not get into Sky Blue Sky for many reasons. Maybe it was the fact that I couldn't accept that the frontman Jeff Tweedy was finally clean, or that I couldn't hear what Sky Blue Sky really was: a great band having fun on record. I now officially rescind my "I hate Sky Blue Sky" comments I've made throughout the past couple years. My disappointment maintained solely upon my Wilco snobbish ways (for they are one of if not my favorite band). Maybe I wanted to show that I knew about Wilco's previous works, a la Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Or maybe I just couldn't accept the fact that my favorite album, or the sound of YHF, would change, even it was just for one album. I do hope they return to that YHF sound though. But, for all of you who may have heard that Sky Blue Sky was not a good album, pick it up yourself, hear it yourself. It truly is a great record. Wilco still amazes me, that they have the ability to have such a widespread audience. You've got teenagers who love their music, and you have 40-50 year olds who love it too. I can't wait to go to the concert this Thursday, wonder if Tweedy will party with us afterwards...
