The O.C.

Let me start by congratulating President-elect Barack Obama. He ran a truly flawless campaign and had the wind at his back the entire race. He has reached a tremendous level of accomplishment. Many may continue to question how it came about so fast for the future president but the fact is, it came. He has made history not only with the first African American President but running an unbelievable campaign in which resulted in the largest turn out of voters in America's history to win the presidency.

In the same respect, let us not under mind the man on the opposing ticket. Senator John McCains faced an inevitable task of not only running against a flawless campaign, but against George Bush, and the economic crisis as well. Anyone knows that a pickup basketball game at the local park with a 3 to 1 match up will result in a loss for the underdog. Especially when the 3 are overpowering in every aspect of the game. John McCain has served his entire life as man of outstanding respect, class, and true love for the United States of America. Not a day goes by when Senator McCain does not put his country first, but unfortunately for him, America responded by choosing to put him second.

America has made it VERY clear of what they want, who they want to bring it, and who they wish to stay out of the equation. The notion of change is no longer a campaign slogan or a bumper sticker. It is now a word that has to be put into action. For America's sake as well as my own, I hope that this slogan of change is a great success..... seeing how an overwhelming majority of Americans think the country is taking 2 steps backwards every time we attempt to take one step forward. However, I will be following these ACTIONS from day one President-elect Barack Obama steps into the oval office. Something he was weak at in the 3 on 1 match up between he and Senator McCain was the track record of action. Not everyone would agree with Senator McCain's actions but no matter the party, no matter the race, he has been known to stand up and act in order to make America a more better nation than it already is. This fact is not so clear for the president-elect. It is something that remains to be answered by the newly president-elect. We know that Obama is the answer, but what exactly is the question?

Starting in January, I will be posting a weekly blog entitled the O.C. and no it does not stand for the Orange County where "all of the beautiful people live." It stands for the Obama Change...the same change that he has promised each and every one of us to make happen as soon as he takes the wheel. I will be fair and unbiased, but will not sugar coat any of the President-elects moves or decisions. I will hold him accountable for his words, something the media has yet to do. It has not been the legislation or the thoughts discussed in the oval office of the past 8 years that have defined President Bush. It is the unscripted split decisions that has defined his moral character. I will follow these decisions as closely as possible as I urge you to do the same.

No matter the party, no matter the race, this is a day of historic success in American history. With that being said I'll leave you with a line from the newly elected President Barack Obama's victory speech.

"There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as president. And we know the government can't solve every problem.
But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And, above all, I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation, the only way it's been done in America for 221 years -- block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand."

As faces in the crowd of Grant Park may have frozen for a second after this remark, many have realized there is a large difference in being optimistic, and realistic. Lets not forget this applies to EVERYONE.....the job of voicing our opinions and helping to remold America does not end at the victory dance, it only begins. Whether you agree or disagree with Barack Obama, the President-elect has made it clear that he needs your help. Don't let him down.

Nice post, Adam Tyler =)

I'm still pretty bummed about this whole deal, but the only thing we can do now is put our trust in God. There has to be a reason that he was elected.

Obama had a very successful campaign, but I didn't hear much about everyone having to sacrifice and deal with setbacks until his acceptance speech. The look on his face on Tuesday night, to me, showed the fear of him realizing we're not living in a fantasy world. For those individuals who were not informed about either candidate and all the flip-flopping going on, I am eager to see how he really handles this powerful position.

Excited to read your weekly O.C. post!! Love you, babe. =)
